ITINERARY 

 

08:30 hrs: Travel 56 km's north of Chiang Mai and enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way, en route to Mae Tang Elephant Camp.

 

The idea of this trip is to discover how trained elephants are used as a vital part of teak wood collecting in the forests.

The process includes bathing elephants in the river (This actually helps their mahouts check their health and wellbeing), working in the jungle, dragging and pushing logs, and responding to their Mahouts commands.

 

After observing, we're off to an hours long elephant ride through the jungle! Along the way we make a stop at a Lisu Hilltribe Village. The Lisu hilltribe people originated in Tibet and their villages are usually located in the mountains around 1000 metres above sea level. 

 

We continue with an ox-cart ride back to the camp where lunch is served. After lunch, it's time for more adventure as we continue Bamboo Rafting along the Mae Taeng River.

 

On the return leg back to Chiang Mai, we make a stop at a local Orchid Nursery to see a large collection of more than 50 different types of colorful exotic orchids that bloom year round.
