ITINERARY 

 

11:00 hrs: Depart for Samut Songkhram, a coastal province at the mouth of the Mae Klong River, 74 km's southwest of Bangkok. Samut Songkhram is the province of fertile land and plants. The province is famous for its vegetables and fruits as well as a vast variety of seafood products. 

 

First off we make a visit to Talad (Market) Rom Hoop or Maeklong Railway Market. This is a unique market that is held every day literally on the rail tracks.

 

As soon as the siren signals the arrival of the train, everything stops. Shoppers will hop off the tracks and vendors will quickly pack their goods and prepare to close/retract their awnings from the train track as the train passes. The process happens fairly quickly as the awning poles have wheels attached. Once the train is gone, its business as usual as if nothing happened. For the locals they are neither excited nor annoyed by this event since the market has been here long before the railway was setup in 1905. 

 

After the market we take a 1 hour comfortable long-tail motor boat trip along the Mae Klong river and canals. You will be treated to the spectacular and colorful scenery of Thai life along the river banks.

 

After this we head to the Amphawa Floating Market. Visitors can enjoy the cosy atmosphere and music broadcasted by the community members, explore the market and local food. This is an afternoon floating market that runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From midday to 8PM the Amphawa Canal is occupied by vendors who pack their boats with food and drinks, such as fried sea mussel, noodles, coffee, sweets, etc.

 

After the floating market we head back to Bangkok where you will be dropped off back at your hotel.
